Web Site Traffic

Lifeblood of The Web & Guaranteed Failure
if You Don't Have Any

1 Web Site + Zero Traffic = No Sales... You Need to Talk To Search Engine Optimization Companies

Without web site traffic your internet based marketing campaign will not get off the ground, it's doomed.

If this is you, can I suggest talking to search engine optimization companies Who'll get their web traffic analyser to check your site.

Traffic comes from many sources; however, there are only two resources that deserve your undivided attention:

PPC or pay-per-click advertising & organic listings in the search engines.

Let Me Explain…

PPC advertising is actually "buying" top listings in the search engines so they send traffic to your website. This option can be expensive so ongoing PPC management is highly recommended to curtail the cost.

Organic listings in the search engines are obtained through search engine optimization, also called "optimizing your website".

You can do your own optimizing if you know how to or you can use the services of a search engine optimization specialist.

Generally a top listing will send you a ton of "free" traffic.

Here's How to Score Yourself Some Free Web Site Traffic…

The best way to get organic search engine listings is to know what the search engines are looking for.

Their main goal is to display the websites that contain information that best matches the search term which was typed into the search engine.

Everything about search engines is based on keywords – words and phrases that the browser uses when looking for information, products or services on the internet.

Therefore, identifying profitable keywords through keyword research is the first step towards increasing your web site traffic.

Step #1: Identifying Profitable Keywords.

You can use keyword tools, such as the Google AdWords Keyword Tool or WordTracker, to conduct keyword research.

You want to choose keywords that are high in demand and relatively low in supply.

It is critically important that the keywords are related to your website’s theme and the theme is what your target market is looking for

Step #2: Using the Keywords Appropriately.

The keywords are used in meta tags on each of your web pages and should be included in the title, description and headline of the page.

This is to let the search engines know what your page is about.

Next, the content of each page needs to be developed and the keywords need to be used on the pages in order to show relative content to the search term that browsers use.

This is often called "keyword content"; however, pages should not overuse keywords because nowadays, that is called "keyword spamming" and it can get your website penalized by the search engines.

If that happens, your web site traffic will really bite the dust!

Step #3: Acquiring Quality Incoming Links

The search engines are concerned with link popularity. They don't only want to deliver relative, informative sites; they also want to deliver popular sites.

Incoming links from relative sites will help your search engine ranking which will definitely increase your web site traffic.

What Are Quality Incoming Links?

Quality links are links that lead to your website from "related" websites.

Link farms and some reciprocal links aren't worth a hill of beans... don't go near them.

However if a well regarded website, that has similar products & services to your site, links to you it is considered by the search engines as a vote of confidence or popularity.

They link to you because you offer something valuable and it will improve your search engine ranking.

Don't expect to get a load of web site traffic from these links. They may provide some traffic, but that is not their main purpose.

Their main purpose is to boost your search engine ranking so that you will get tons of traffic!

How to Get Quality Incoming Links

The best way is to simply ask.

Offer valuable content that related websites would like to link to and then contact webmasters of high-ranking websites and ask them to link to you.

If you're anything like me, the thought of doing that probably doesn’t sit well with you.

Maybe it is fear of rejection… whatever, who cares?

Anyway you'll probably never meet these people and it’s definitely worth a try!

The second best option, in my opinion, is article marketing.

This involves writing expert articles that are related to your industry and distributing them to article websites.

The article itself has a link to your website in the resource box and other webmasters can republish the article, free of charge, on their own websites.

You may get some web site traffic from the articles that establish you as an expert, but the main goal is to spread your link all over the web, on websites that are related to your industry.

Other options include:

  • Get you site listed in directories
  • Participating in online forums that allow you to display your website link
  • Post comments in blogs that provide back-links
  • Join social networks
  • Create your own blog that refers to your website
  • Answer questions that are related to your industry on Q&A websites

The ideas I've presented here will most definitely improve the traffic to your site, but it doesn’t happen overnight.

It is a long process and it will take some time so be patient, web site traffic is the lifeblood of the internet and well worth waiting for.
