Print for Marketing
Old Marketing Methods That Not Even The Internert Can Dislodge
"John Gooseflesh... Come on Down"
Using print for marketing has been around literally since the days of
Johann Gutenberg
in the 1450’s.His real name was Johann Gensfleisch” which, when translated, meant John Gooseflesh... can’t understand why he changed it really. Anyway, whilst good old Johann’s book The Gutenberg Bible was the first book ever printed, the very first document printed on the very first printing press was, in fact, an ad sheet for a beer garden. "Did you hear that... a booze up in the beer garden - You bloody beauty!" C’mon this is serious.
Print v The Internet.
Print marketing has a number of advantages that can never be supplemented by the internet.
Internet based marketing
and search engine optimization has revolutionized marketing by the way in which it can present your products and services to the world. That said, it hasn't displaced some of the more traditional 'print for marketing' methods.
Persistence is King.
Printed pages don't require electricity to run, funny that!And... you don't need a gadget to read one. An astonishing number of people print out an amazing number of web pages, then wander off to somewhere comfortable & read them. Not really print marketing, but highlights the persistance of the printed word.
Advertising Print for Marketing.
Printed advertising has a unique benefit... it’s portable.Your prospective customers can take it away with them. It can be used to record notes about your products and services, contact information or... the phone number of the cute receptionist. Print advertising is also a cost effective option for targeting consumers within demographic areas. Most print advertising campaigns focus on specific geographical localities, zip codes and neighbourhoods or to qualified consumers. This helps keep the "false hits" to a minimum and of course the cost.
Now... Which Documents Should You Print for Marketing Your Campaigns?
There are a number of printed document types that are useful in marketing. The most basic is the
business card.
"Never under estimate the mighty business card" A well designed business card should be built around appeal and readability rather than information density. To keep up with the pack, make sure you carry your very own
personal business cards.
The next "basic document" you should use in print marketing is a three panel brochure which is an 8.5 x 11" or A4 sheet folded in three so it fits perfectly into a business envelope. This allows for three individual panels each side which is great for splitting product types, services, pricing, etc. A single A4 or 8.5 x 11” sheet is the basic print for marketing flyer. Moving upscale, print marketing includes things like the 11x17 or A3 flyer, folded in the centre to form a 4 page brochure or booklet. Next is two 11x17 or A3 pages folded and stapled to form an 8 page document, then three 11x17 or A3 pages to form a 12 page document, and so on.
You'll Need Some Good Advice on Printing.
Be selective who you ask for printing advice, some people know a lot about printing and some don't.Acting on 'bad information' can cost you a lot of money, time & stress. Printing is a somewhat secret process that in fact, very few people know anything about. So, if I told you anything about it... I'd have to kill you straight after. Just kidding, right. And... it's becoming more computer based and 'hi-tech' as time goes by. Not so many years ago, printing presses were big, mechanical monsters controlled by levers & knobs. The operators wore greasy coveralls and their hands were covered in ink. Nowadays, it's all automated. Computers run the whole shooting match and the operators could wear their coveralls out to dinner after a 10 hour shift. Well not quite... but I'm sure you know what I mean. Anyway, if you'd like to discover some valuable printing tips & proven methods from someone who does know what they're talking about, check out some

How Good Do You Want To Look?
One last major benefit of using print for marketing is accuracy of color reproduction.Yes, yes I know... the internet is also color. However, a computer monitor simply cannot display color as true to life as
four color process printing
or full color printing. A monitor displays color created by RGB or red, green & blue. This technology is unable to recreate accurate color. This may not sound all that important but try explaining it to a company owner who wants to highlight the fabulous new colour range of their new product line. There is no better way than using full color print for marketing & highlighting the features & benefits of your products & services.
